This Past Weekend

Kris and I were very busy this past weekend.  Not only was it our annual 4 day visit to Disneyland to celebrate Gay Days, but we also were very honored to attend the wedding of two of our very dear friends, Stephen Abate and Ethan Collings.

The wedding was held on the Santa Monica Pier in the carousel building.  The venue was both clasically elegant and whimsically fun and I personally like the fact that the 'boys' were making personal and State of California history in a building that is so historically significant to their own home town. It was truly beautiful.  In lieu of the traditional first dance, the boys took a 'first ride' on the historical carousel and were then joined by almost every guest in attendance for a second ride.

What to say about Gay Days this year?  Not much for me.  I didn't go.  I did not step one toe into either of the parks and the closest I got was on Friday afternoon when we trapsed over to Whitewater Snacks for a late lunch.  Kris went into the parks for a bit on Sunday afternoon.  What DID I do...  I had drinks at the Surfside Lounge with Kris and Richard, left the Resort area to attend the wedding, helped to throw and informal post wedding party on Saturday afternoon, drank a lot, played Catch Phrase, had an AWESOME dinner at Steakhouse 55, had a fun brunch at PCH Grill, played at the hotel pool, napped (more than once), had a small dinner at Buca di Peppo (Bucket of Puppies), hung out with friends, napped, drank great wine, ate wedding cake for breakfast and finished the weekend with a yummy lunch at Bubba Gumps.  I am going to try to enter the gates of the park next year. No promises however.  SUCK THE MONKEY!!!

What's next for us?  This Saturday we celebrate the retirement of a very good friend of ours - Robert Simpson.  He and his wife are hosting a big shin dig in their backyard (THE place for parties in Mentone). We are hoping to use this occasion to get rid of the booze left over from our wedding and Stephen & Ethan's as well!
